Description
The Mercenary Base is an advanced tower unlocked at. It can also be bought for 1,800 Robux. It can spawn various units on the path within its range, which can deal damage to enemies or support other units. These units have varying strengths, spawnrates and purposes. At Level 0, it spawns the Rifleman, which is a basic burst unit that attacks similar to the Soldier. It gains hidden and flying detections at Level 3+. At Level 1, it gains the ability to spawn the Grenadier, which deals splash damage, which works like most other splash damage towers. The explosion is separated into two spheres; enemies in the inner sphere will be dealt 100% of the stated damage, while the damage in the outer sphere is decreased linearly. Additionally, its explosions bypass defense. At Level 6, the Grenadier gains defense, letting it take less damage from collisions and enemy abilities. At Level 4, it spawns the Riot Guard, which has a very high amount of health and high defense but rather low melee damage — its main form of damage is collision damage. It can hit multiple enemies with its attack, though as it requires them to be very close to each other, this does not happen often. When walking, the Riot Guard will slowly build up speed until it is running. While in this state, colliding with an enemy will damage and knock back the enemy. Bigger enemies will be pushed back a smaller distance than average-sized enemies. After colliding with or when near an enemy, the Riot Guard will remain in place to soak up more damage.

Strategy
When first placed down, the Mercenary Base will instantly spawn the Rifleman, which fares quite well against early game enemies. This can make it useful for early-game, though do note it is quite expensive at the placement cost of 2,750, which makes other towers much better while at a lower cost. Unlike other spawning towers, the Mercenary Base must be placed by the path in order to spawn units without the use of the Air-Drop ability. It is recommended to place the tower down near the back but also near other towers, as it gives the units more time to attack enemies and allows the Mercenary Base to boost the damage of towers. This is especially important for Riot Guards, as when they speed up they can become quite fast, making them get to the entrance quite quickly if the Mercenary Base is placed close to it. Do note that the Mercenary Base has a large placement footprint, which can be especially an issue on maps with little ground space, such as Forgetten Docks or Construction Crazy. The Air-Drop ability can be useful at quickly sending out units when needed; do note that you need to pay 2,500 to use it, though it should not matter too much. The DJ Booth can be used to reduce the ability usage cost. You can quickly change the units in the queue specifically for the Air-Drop and then change them back to what they were before, making the Air-Drop send out the units you need while not affecting the unit queue. At Level 3, the Mercenary Base increases damage of nearby towers by 10%, which is increased to 12.5% at Level 5 and 15% at Level 6.

Patch history
The Mercenary Base is the second tower to have six upgrades, the first being the Engineer. The inventory preview of the Mercenary Base is a random unit that it can spawn, making it the first tower to change its icon randomly. The Mercenary Base at one point had a dynamic placement limit, meaning its placement was dependent on the player count. Solo had a placement limit of 3, duo was set to 2, while trio and quad had a limit of 1. This was removed on the 23rd of October 2024, where its placement limit was changed to be always 3 for all player counts. The Air-Drop ability is orchestrated by a Lockheed C-130. The Mercenary Base is the first spawner tower having defense applied to its spawned units. The Grenadier has 10% defense at Level 6 and the Riot Guard has 10% defense at Level 4 and 15% at Level 6.
