Description

The DJ Booth is an advanced tower that is primarily a support tower with some economic and offensive capabilities through its Drop the Beat ability unlocked at Level 3. It can be bought from the store for 5,000 Coins. The DJ Booth provides boosts to towers in range through different tracks, which also changes the behavior of its Drop the Beat ability. The Purple track is unlocked on Level 0 and is active by default. It grants a 12.5% Range Buff to towers, which with Levels increases to up to 25%. When the Drop the Beat ability is used, it will create three (four at Level 5) pulses which knockback and slow down enemies. These can hit any enemy, regardless of immunities. The knockback is the regular knockback, meaning any immunity that prevents enemies from being knocked back, such as Stun Immunity, will prevent the enemy from being knocked back. How far back the enemy is knocked back depends on its size. Bigger enemies will get pushed back a smaller distance than an average-sized enemy. However, only boss enemies are immune to the slowdown. The slowdown effectiveness is based on the number of towers in the DJ Booth's range, starting from 10% and increasing by 1% to up to 25%. At Level 5, base slowdown is increased to 10% and max slowness is increased to 35%. It applies a 10% Range Buff at Level 5 if the Purple track is not selected. The Green track is unlocked on Level 0. It grants a 5% Discount Buff to towers, which with Levels increases to 15%. When the Drop the Beat ability is used, it will generate cash.

Strategy

The DJ Booth's buffs are calculated as Range Buff: \text{Original Range} \times (1 + \text{Range Buff}) Discount Buff: \text{Original Price} \times (1 - \text{Discount Buff}) Damage Buff: \text{Original Damage} \times (1 + \text{Damage Buff}) where Range and Discount Buffs are the buffs supplied by the DJ Booth in decimal form (for example, 10% is 0.1). Additionally, damage is rounded down. For example, a Level 5 DJ Booth set on the Green Track (15% Discount Buff, 10% Range Buff, 7.5% Damage Buff) will decrease the cost of a Level 4 Ranger from 25,000 to 21,250, increase its range from 70 to 77, and increase its damage from 875 to 940. However, the Range Buff cannot increase the range of the following towers: The Shotgunner, as its bullets do not extend into the gained range. The DJ Booth. The DJ Booth also cannot decrease the upgrade prices of another DJ Booth. The circling range of the Ace Pilot. The radius in which towers gain hidden detection from the Ace Pilot also cannot be increased. These towers' attack ranges will still be increased. The chain range of the Electroshocker and Tesla. The attack range can still be increased. The deadzone ranges of towers like the Biologist and Engineer. The sentry building range of the Engineer. The explosion radius from Splash Damage towers cannot be increased. The Discount Buff cannot decrease a tower's placement cost. It also does not affect the Farm. There are multiple towers that cannot be affected by its Damage Buff: Only one DJ Booth can be placed per player, so choose the spot wisely.

Patch history

The DJ Booth is loosely based on the DJ from Tower Battles. The DJ Booth plays a certain music track when placed down. Some of the Default skin song vocals are from Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger by Daft Punk. The Neon Rave skin song vocals are from Limb By Limb, but slightly edited. The Neko skin song vocals are from Never Regret, but slightly edited. On 29th of December 2021, the Ghost skin briefly used an edited version of The Only Thing They Fear Is You from DOOM Eternal due to a bug. This track was likely used during the development and was added to the game by accident, as on leaks of the Ghost skin, the same track could be heard. The Masquerade plays the Halloween 2020 Event lobby theme, though without the intro. The DJ Booth has a gamepass that allows you to play your own custom music with it for 82 Robux. During Hardcore Testing BETA, the Neko skin could decrease the DJ Booth's placement footprint. Before the Overhaul Update, the DJ Booth's final upgrade's cost 9,001 as a reference to the "IT'S OVER 9000" meme. The Sniper, Engineer, Frost Blaster, DJ Booth, Commander and bottom path Pursuit are the only towers that can damage all enemies, no matter their immunities, without any support, such as through the Firework Technician.
