Description
The Rifleman is the first unit spawned by the Mercenary Base. It receives two upgrades, one when the Mercenary Base is upgraded to Level 3 and one when upgraded to Level 6. It spawns next to the Mercenary Base and moves towards the entrance, whereupon it disappears. Whenever there is a detectable enemy in its range, it will stop moving to attack it. It will continue walking if there are no enemies in its range for a few seconds. When it detects an enemy, it will fire at it in a burst with a long cooldown. While it has no limit in regular gameplay, there is a limit of 10 Riflemen per Mercenary Base in PVP.
Appearance
The Rifleman has dark skin. It has a light green shirt, green vest and cap, brown gloves and shoes, black belt and khaki pants. It wields an XM7.

Strategy
The Rifleman can be quite effective early on, as one will always spawn when the Mercenary Base is placed down and it has very good DPS for its cost. However, do note that it does not have hidden or flying detection until the Mercenary Base is upgraded to Level 3, making it quite weak against hidden and flying enemies that appear early. Weaker hidden enemies like the Hidden can be killed through collision, though tougher ones like the Fallen Soul will easily overwhelm a Level 0 Riflemen. The Rifleman's collision deals full damage to enemies with defense, though its gun does not. You should not rely on this, as most of the Rifleman's DPS comes from its gun. Later on, multiple upgraded Riflemen can be quite effective at clearing out enemies, due to their large range, quick spawnrate, hidden detection and decent DPS. However, do note that it has the lowest health out of all Mercenary Base units, making it vulnerable to hordes of enemies or enemy abilities like the Fallen King's Sword Swing. The Field Medic can help by giving the Rifleman a shield and by healing its health.
