Overview
*The Forest|hp=N/A (unkilliable) The Cat is one of the four secondary monsters in the game (alongside The Owl, The Ram and The Bat) of 99 Nights in the Forest. It is one of the 3 monsters that have a 1/3 chance of spawning depending on which of the Jungle Biome, Snow Biome or Volcano biome is present. The Cat will only spawn if the Jungle is present - if it is Snow, The Cat is replaced by The Owl, and if it is the Volcano, The Cat is replaced by The Ram.
Appearance
The Cat is an incredibly large and tall black humanoid with a cartoonish face resembling a domestic cat. It has some light black stripes on the tail, paws and feet. It has an unnaturally large head with big ears and pink inner ears, white whiskers, an outstretched jaw, and white large eyes with sharp black pupils.
Behavior
=== Awakening === When a night begins, there is a chance of a short cutscene showing The Cat’s back shadow as it sharpens its claws. Afterwards, the following text will appear: "The Cat has woken up" Once the cutscene has played out, The Cat will be able to spawn. If The Cat appears at night, The Deer will not spawn, unless a Cultist Attack occurs on the same night.
Trivia
• The Cat sometimes will be called by fans "Cartoon Cat" jokingly. It is a reference to Trevor Henderson's creatures. • The Cat can be pinged by players, unlike the other Monsters. • Before The Cat’s release, it was thought to be the “panther” or the “jaguar”, according to it’s habitat, the jungle. • The Cat is an animal that can be bought as a pet, unlike the Ram, Owl, Deer, or Bat. • It is the newest entity that was added. • The Cat is considered to be one of the most overpowered Hostile Entities, due to it’s pounce reaching anywhere, in trees, on top of rocks, or even on top of the houses.
