is one of the five unkillable monsters (alongside The Deer, The Owl, The Ram, and The Cat) and one of the 4 secondary monsters of 99 Nights in the Forest. Unlike those ones, the Bat can only be found in the Caverns. Teased in The Deer is Hurt update (15th Nov 2025), it was released in Bat Entity/Cave update (22nd Nov 2025). *Caverns

Appearance

The Bat is a giant light-purple semi-anthropomorphic bat with white, clouded eyes and grey pupils. Its head is disproportionately large compared to the rest of its body and features a pink upturned snout with a pair of sharp fangs rooted at the tip. Its jaw, much like the others, is outstretched and opens into darkness. 8 small tufts of fur, each smaller than the last, adorn both sides of The Bat's skull, slightly lighter in pigmentation than the rest of its body. Its large wings, emerging from a set of broad shoulders, are slim and skeletal, with light pink wing membranes and sharp claws on each finger.

Behavior

The Bat is blind (so cannot be stunned by flashlight) but it is still capable of being a threat to players that explore the Caverns. When a player first enters the caverns it will let out a screech and fly away, marking the start of The Bat encounter. Afterwards it will fly around on a set path, briefly landing in certain spots to let out more screeches. When it does so, a rising screech meter will appear on The Bat, warning the player to hide. Once the meter is full, it will let out an ear-piercing screech, visualized by a rapidly expanding red sphere that damages and blurs the vision of anyone who gets hit by it.

• The Bat is the first monster entity to attack another monster entity, that being The Deer. • It is stronger than The Deer when normal, but not when The Deer is hungry (as shown in cutscenes). • Currently, it is the only monster that can appear even if there are 2 monsters in the game. • The Bat is the only blind entity and the only one to not chase the player upon being detected. • However, it has a ranged attack with area of effect, meaning it can still damage the player. • The Bat is the first Monster that cannot be killed or stunned with the Flashlight, the second being the Evil Bunny. • The Bat is the only entity to only attack in a specific area.
