The Savage is a high tier sniper rifle added in the V2.2.1 Winter Part II update. It is only obtainable from Rebel Dealers, Mystery Crates, or Airdrops. Similarly to the Scout, Mare and BFG, it has a scope included by default to aid in long-range combat due to its nature as a sniper rifle.

Usage & Tactics
Like other sniper rifles, accuracy is key when using the Savage. If you can't properly line up your shots, it is not recommended that you buy it. While body shots are still heavily damaging, you'll want to hit the head if you intend to quickly down and kill your target. However, the Savage is still a situational weapon at best. With a hefty price tag of $9,000 and being mostly exclusive to Rebel Dealers, it makes the Savage a very exclusive weapon, making you a target when used. It's recommended to carry some kind of backup weapon if you plan to use the Savage, as it is not very CQC capable.
Pros & Cons
Better base damage than the Mare and Scout. Great armor penetration. Capable of 1 shotting most Infected without headshotting or required range. Makes you a target, as with all sniper rifles. Very expensive. Only obtainable through irregular means (Rebel Dealer, Mystery Crates, Airdrop). High level requirement. Takes 7 slots.
Trivia
The Savage looks to be based off a Savage Model 110 chambered in 300 Winchester Magnum, denoted by the '300' marking on the bolt. It took 1 year for the reload animation to be finished. A popular myth is that the Savage has inverted damage-dropoff. This was caused by a Warmarble video, in which it was featured, where he said that the damage drop off is inverted. While it may have been true at the timeI highly doubt that it is false information. Many people still believe this. (Including me at some point:S ) Category:Guns
