Overview[1]
The SKS is a soviet carbine meant to take the role of a semi-automatic rifle. Its addition as the first DMR to the dealer's stocks competes with the armory's FN-FAL with significant changes. It is viable at all ranges due to its moderately low recoil and tight spread combined with high damage.

Usage & Tactics
The SKS should primarily be used from long to medium ranges, generally used on rooftops and across streets behind cover. This however is not the only place where you could use this DMR. The SKS has a surprisingly tight spread, meaning you should be able to land every shot close range when hip-firing, but if this does not suit your playstyle you can always space out a bit and use the great iron sights. Placing headshots should only be used on standstill targets, as body shots will deal sufficient damage without risk of missing (taking 4-3 shots to down an unarmored player). It has more zoom range than other weapons when firing, making it easier to hit targets at a longer range but harder to hit them at close range. Although this DMR is still housing a respectable total count of 40 rounds, using it with rush will make you fall short in ammo fast. Armored targets should not scare you while wielding an SKS, as the high armor penetration and damage will shred armor with relative ease. The "relative" part is coming from the Tier-3 Kit, however if you can land the majority of your shots to the body or the head, it shouldn’t be a great challenge to defeat that either. A noticeable “issue” of using this gun is its 4-second reload time. Ammo management is truly something to learn from this weapon, as deciding when to fight and when to flee will depend entirely on how you spend your ammunition. Another issue you might encounter would be its slot usage of 6.5, this will impact the amount of space that you have, making it difficult to compliment with other items or sidearms.
Pros & Cons
Cheap. High damage. Effective at all ranges. Unlocks at level 9. Fast fire rate. Good iron sights. Low recoil. Can be found in green Weapon Crates. High armor penetration. Vanguard skin has a bayonet attached like Musket Slow reload time. Uses 6.5 inventory slots.
Strategy
The SKS has an 07 marked onto the back of the receiver cover, meaning it was meant to be supplied to the Sector the game resides in. The SKS was made in huge surplus by the soviets, and quickly being replaced by the AK resulted in the selling of that surplus at cheap prices, making it a popular gun amongst civilians and criminals alike in real life. This could be the reason for its appearance in Sector 07. This weapon's appearance and name is inspired from its real-world counterpart, the SKS. It functions exactly like an M1911 with 2 more bullets and more armor penetration, with the downside of being more cumbersome. Category:Guns
