Usage & Tactics
The Metal Bat is a great defensive weapon and offensive weapon as well, and will flip a profit with proficient use. It has tougher concussion capabilities than the normal Bat, dealing more flat-out blunt damage, not including bleed damage. It can fracture any unarmored limb with a single hit and breaks necks with two swings. The 3rd swing, in particular, can instantly break necks even if the prior two hits don't land. Due to its average delay and swing speed, it's best used on singular victims or duos often when they're caught off-guard but if the opportunity appears, the hitbox is wide enough to still allow it to hit multiple targets if you swing precisely. It's widely considered one of the best weapons for melee-on-melee combat if you can utilize the block mechanic, stopping most other melee users right in their tracks, even those allowing players to move faster, swing quicker, or deal more damage than the Metal Bat. While this weapon can down fairly quickly in three hits, landing your shots on the skull will lead to an extraordinary quick defeat for anyone who stands in your way, as only two are needed to break the neck, or similarly to the Katana; the third swing can be charged up to instantly break the neck of an unsuspecting opponent. The wide swing radius also makes this weapon deadly up close, however often hitting the third swing can be difficult due to the very tight range of attacking downwards vertically.
Blocking
The Metal Bat can block every melee other than: Fire Axe, Chainsaw, Cursed Dagger, Slayer's Sword II, ERADICATOR, The Metal Bat can be blocked by: Bat, Metal Bat, Scythe, Slayer's Sword II, ERADICATOR, Sledgehammer
Pros & Cons
Can fracture any limb with a single swing. Wide swing radius. Cheap. High damage. Can snap necks if 2 headshots are landed. Can inflict bleed and concussion simultaneously. Blocks nearly all melee weapons. Third swing breaks necks instantly on headshot. Mediocre hitbox. Middling attack cooldown. Below-average mobility. Slow swing speed.
Patch history
The Metal Bat is widely regarded as one of the best melees in the game, able to challenge the Katana, Fire Axe, Sledgehammer, and Chainsaw if played right. The Metal Bat used to be the only melee weapon in-game that simultaneously inflicted Concussion and Bleeding until the Sledgehammer was released in v2.0.0. Before changes in the unlocking system, the Metal Bat's unlocking price was $20,000. The Metal Bat used to instantly kill/explode the head of non-helmet players upon the third swing instead of breaking their neck. However, this was changed to only break necks in V1.0.8-2. The Metal Bat is often memed in the community as a "high skill weapon." Before V1.2.0, The Metal Bat had different animations, where the swing was lower. This meant that in order to hit headshots, you would have to face your camera up manually. This weapon used to be able to be purchased inside armories, but is now only available at dealers. The weapon is labeled as a "blunt" weapon, even though it possesses both bleed and concussion capabilities. The "new" remodel for the weapon comes from heavy inspiration of the legacy metal bat.
