- Unlocking the Sterling Dungeon
Overview
The Skeleton Key can only be obtained through Crafting, costing. This item must be taken to Sterling Mines, and then used on the Sterling Dungeon door. This unlocks the skeletal door in the Mines leading to the Sterling Dungeon, allowing the party to head in. Upon entering, they will be met with 3 waves of Skeletons, Miner Skeletons, and Acid Skeletons. Once completing these waves, players unlock the Skeleton Grenade Blueprint.
Strategy
It is recommended to weld and keep the Key safe until you arrive at Sterling, in which case it should be sacked and kept at the front of the Sack to make opening the Dungeon fast to avoid enemies spawning. Killing almost or all enemies before entering the Dungeon is almost required, because of the vast amount of enemies that will be waiting just outside the Dungeon. If the player have already obtained the Skeleton Grenade Blueprint, the Key can be still of use, as the Sterling Dungeon door produces a large amount of light when opened, lighting up the Mines and making it way easier to see. Open the Dungeon before nightfall, because night enemies can still spawn inside the Dungeon.
Trivia
The Key is depicted as yellow and have the model of the Supply Depot Key in the Lobby. This is most likely an oversight. Most keys in real life are actually made by molding, because using blueprints makes it more difficult and can lead to horribly inaccurate results.
