MediumDisastersNatural Disaster Survival

Overview[1]

The Tornado is one of the 13 disasters of Natural Disaster Survival. During a tornado, a large grey and white whirlwind flies around the map, destroying structures and killing players. It follows a random path, destroying anything it makes contact with. When coming in contact with the tornado, bricks are unwelded and flung around, and players are thrown into the air. Before The Takeover update, the tornado could rip off accessories, layered clothing, hair, and even limbs. This has now been patched. Players can be launched into the air or sideways, resulting in an instant death.

Guide

Dark clouds appear in the air. However, many disasters have cloudy weather, meaning it is impossible to predict if a tornado is coming. Stay outside, keep moving and stay away from the Tornado. Try not to get into its path, and get as far away as you can from the tornado. The Green Balloon can help for running away from the tornado, and Red Apple can help regenerate health. Zoom out your camera into the sky, notice how the tornado travels from one point to another in a straight line. You can use your cursor to track the bottom of the vortex to manually and visibly track the direction it is going, allowing you to predict and avoid it ahead of time. Avoid holding gear such as the Green Balloon in tornadoes, they can delete them, forcing you to either go into the next match without it or resetting your character to re-spawn with the previously destroyed item('s). This no longer happens at this time and has apparently been fixed.

Patch history

If you survive a tornado in Trailer Park for the first time, you will earn the "Tornado vs. Trailer Park" badge. In the past, Tornadoes used to instantly kill you if you got stuck in it. If Tornado is paired up with Volcano or Meteor Shower in a multi-disaster round, the lava blocks or meteors can be carried by the tornado, making it more deadly if you are stuck inside. Tornado is the only disaster where the sound effects still play after the round ends. If you go to the location where the tornado starts, you will be carried off by the tornado and taken to a far point of the map, which will likely result in death. Tornado is a rotating disaster that picks up unanchored debris in a helix pattern. The tornado features visual effects with azureish white smoke, along with vortex particles colored in Baby Powder and Cadet Blue (Crayola). A bug that caused the player's accessories, hair, layered clothing, and limbs to be removed was fixed in The Takeover update.
