Overview[1]

During a sandstorm, the sky is colored with a yellow haze, while falling sand particles fill the players' screens, obscuring their vision. Sand particles will travel at swift speeds towards the map in a singular direction, covering bricks and objects with sand. This will cause them to be dislodged and often swept away by the storm at high speeds, tearing down the structural integrity of buildings and leading to the collapse of weaker structures. Players in the direction of flying objects will be swept away and often killed. While rare, players may also lose about 50 HP when hit by sand particles.

Guide

A sand-colored haze will gradually thicken on the horizon. This is also accompanied by storm clouds and a windy soundtrack. Avoid being swept away by flying objects or fallen debris. Identify the direction of the sandstorm by observing where the debris is flying. Move accordingly to the opposite side of the map to avoid being in the direction of flying objects. Be aware of falling debris and objects, as they can push players off the island. In maps with tall terrain, such as Modest Headquarters, Surf Central, Party Palace, and Manic Mansion, position yourself behind the terrain walls where there are no objects or structures behind; this will block objects from flying towards you. Avoid using balloons, as they increase your chances of being hit due to their airborne nature. Apparently it was fixed. If the disaster warning appears, DO NOT take cover, because you will be vulnerable to flying debris whilst inside a structure.

Trivia

Due to the falling sand and haze, it is often difficult to spot the island while spectating from the lobby. Sandstorms bear a striking resemblance to blizzards, with the primary difference being that sand replaces snow. However, unlike Blizzards, where shelter is advised, during sandstorms, it's safer to stay in open spaces to prevent being flung off the map. Many players often underestimate this disaster. Sometimes, structures of a map are so weak that the entire map will be decimated by a sandstorm, such as Rainbow Ride, Launch Land, and Fort Indestructible. This can prove to be beneficial if a player makes it through alive until then, however, as if a map is completely decimated by the Sandstorm, there will be no more bricks and debris to be flung around and damage the player's HP further, therefore guaranteeing survival to the player. It is possible to die while using a balloon due to a glitch. Apparently it was fixed. It is also possible to take partial damage while standing plainly in the open when hit by sand particles, likely due to a glitch. Similarly to the effects from Blizzard, all three of the stages will deal no health damage. Instead, the effects gradually show heavy effects during a prolonged period of time.
