Description
The Crook, formerly the Crook 1, was a unit that used to be spawned by the Crook Boss at Level 4. As with other units, it started from the end of the map path and moved towards the entrance of the map. The Crook had a spawnrate of 60 seconds. Whenever there was an enemy in its range, the Crook would stop moving to shoot at the enemies. It would continue walking when there were no enemies left in its range.
Strategy
You should not rely too much on Crooks because of their slow spawnrate. The Crook can deal full collision damage to enemies with defenses, like the Giant Boss. However, the Crook's ranged damage is still affected by enemies with defense. The Crook cannot detect Hidden and Flying enemies, but they can still be damaged when the Crook collides with them. However, this is likely unfavorable as the Crook's main source of damage is ranged. The Crook cannot collide with ghost enemies, like the Soul. On two-pathed maps, only one Crook will spawn per Level 4 Crook Boss. It will go down a random path. The Crook will struggle against fast enemies like the Rusher or Glitch, as they can run into Crooks without taking much damage. The Crook is not affected by any buffs given by other towers, like the Commander, whether the Crook is in the range of a tower that grants a buff or if the Crook Boss is in the range of a tower that grants a buff. The Crook will struggle against any enemy with abilities that damage units, as their health is lower than any amount of damage that these enemies deal. For example, if the Fallen King uses its Stomp attack, and a Crook is caught in the attack, it is instantly killed.
Patch history
The Golden Crook Boss used to spawn Golden Crooks instead of Crooks. All the other skins for the Crook Boss, including the former Platinum skin, used to spawn the regular Crook. Unlike the Crook, the Golden Crook remained in the game until the 13th of May 2022. The Crook was based on the Mafia City meme. The first version of the Crook used same death sound that Roblox uses. The Crook could be seen on the original Crook Boss Level 4 upgrade icon. In the Frost Invasion Update, the Crook was replaced with the Body Guard and Body Guards 1. The beanie used by the second version of the Crook is the accessory from the Roblox catalog.
