The Intratec TEC-DC9, or just TEC-9, is a lightweight burst firearm that was released on October 17th, 2020, as a part of the v1.0.0 pre-beta release of Criminality. It is a dealer-only weapon that can be unlocked for $62,000 at level 1, or automatically unlocked at level 12. The TEC-9 excels at close quarters combat, and it can down someone comparatively quickly with just two bursts to the torso. However, the 3rd bullet of each burst is notoriously hard to manage as it will be shot far higher than the rest due to the recoil, nevertheless, this can be negated by practice and positioning. This weapon is often considered a direct upgrade to the Beretta, with extra ammunition, storing two more bursts per magazine, higher damage, and faster reloads, but like its little brother, the burst firemode falls short at medium ranges; this is where the semi-automatic firing mode can come into play to guarantee accuracy and prevent ammunition wastage.

Usage & Tactics
The TEC-9 damage is slightly lower than other weapons (7-4 shots to down an unarmored player), yet its capabilities aren't dragged down by its damage; it has good stats for its low price and respectable close-range damage output. It has quite a fast fire rate in the semi-automatic firemode and burst firemode, making it the fastest of the two burst firearms in the game. This weapon may not put out as much single-shot damage compared to something like the G-17 or the AKS-74U, but the recoil is very managable for the rate of fire this gun offers. As well as this, the recoil generated by the rapid burst-fire has enough time to return on target before the next burst is fired, due to the burst cooldown. Magazine capacity is fair, at 18 rounds, and sporting 54 rounds in reserve. However, compared to other pistols, its magazine size is somewhat bigger. Even so, with the high RPM, magazines deplete rather quickly, making the TEC-9's ammunition consumption rate slightly higher if your game is to spray and pray. The TEC-9 falls short on armor penetration (with a value of 0.33), meaning you would be better off with a pistol like the Deagle, or an even more expensive gun like the Tommy. However, it can still be viable in close range if you hit most of your shots, except when up against a Tier-3 Kit, where your gun will deal the equivalent damage of a water blaster. Overall, the TEC-9 is a well-balanced, cheap, reliable close-or-mid-range burst weapon for anyone of any skill level.

Patch history
The Tec-9 was originally semi-automatic only, this was changed in the V1.0.3 update in which it received the burst mode. The burst mode was removed in V1.0.8-2, then re-added in a sub-update. The developers also considered a fully-automatic Tec-9, but it was changed to burst to increase gun variety. In real life there are 3 variants of this gun, and the variant in-game seems like to be KG-99.
