Overview[1]
Scorched Earth; Fire Biome; Oil Refinery; Immune to fire. detectionrange: 100 (possibly outdated); attackrange: 5; cd: 0.5s; deposit: 1 Bone Fragment The Flaming Zombie or Fire Zombie is similar to the Runner Zombie variant in Dead Rails.
Flaming Zombies are hostile zombie variants that only spawn in groups of 5 around the War Horse. Although technically different entities, Runner Zombies on fire appear as the sole night enemies in the Scorched Earth gamemode. They are otherwise identical to Flaming Zombies in function. Additionally, all zombie variants spawning at buildings have a chance to spawn on fire in a Fire Biome or in the Scorched Earth gamemode. On contact, Flaming Zombies ignite other entities, even other zombies. They are immune to fire damage (Molotov, Devil Tears or the burn effect from the War Horse), so players must eliminate them using other means.

Strategies
Players should snipe Flaming Zombies with ranged weapons since a combination of three hits and fire damage can wipe out unarmored players and other entities with 100 health (a fully armored player would take 78 damage). Reviving fallen Flaming Zombies may be a viable tactic when raiding Towns due to their high DPS (being 13.2 including the fire). Do not attack Flaming Zombies with fire weapons, since they are immune to fire damage. The Arsonist class is immune to fire, so they can treat them as Runner Zombies. Note that their attacks will remove other liquids that are affecting the target. If you are covered with Kerosene, take special care to not let them attack you because the fire will last significantly longer compared to when you are not. If you are trying to get the War Horse, be careful when using Ranged Weapons as they can go through the Flaming Zombies and hit the War Horse. An effective way to bypass this is to move until the Covenant Knight on the War Horse detects the player as Flaming Zombies have a rather low detection range.
Patch history
The Flaming Zombie's normal appearance is actually a black version of a naked Runner Zombie's character model, presumably from the skin darkening effects of being on fire for a long time. This could've been confirmed in the past when placing its corpse into the Sack and taking it back out, where its skin would've reverted back to its default color (green). The same effect (resetting skin color) could've be observed with other burnt zombies as well. This was fixed in a later update, likely to comply with Roblox policies.
