Overview[1]
Hostile (If players try to use the Lincoln's Top Hat as fuel); Lincoln's Top Hat (when the Hat is burnt) Ghost of Lincoln is a unique Entity in Dead Rails.
Ghost of Lincoln is a muscular Entity with a transparent ghost texture, only spawning when you burn Lincoln's Top Hat or equipped the Presidential Train and fill the Soul Meter. Lincoln is armed with an Axe that was available in the game, but has been removed in one of its first updates. Ghost of Lincoln has a maximum health of 500 while doing 35 damage, having equal stats like Werewolves. However, he can be sold for 5x money, being 100, while a hostile one can also drop Lincoln's Ghost's Top Hat.

Spawning Tutorial
In order to spawn a passive Ghost of Lincoln, players will need the Presidential Train, costing 250 Bonds. Upon joining in a game, players will have to kill 25 Entities anywhere on the map due to a glitch until Ghost of Lincoln spawns atop the roof of the car. Players can check their progress through the "Soul" meter located on the left side of the cabin. The meter will reset after Ghost of Lincoln spawns. In order to spawn a hostile Ghost of Lincoln, players need to loot Lincoln's Train to obtain Lincoln's Top Hat. Next, players must burn the Hat inside the Train's fire. A Lightning Bolt will strike nearby and Ghost of Lincoln will then spawn near the train and the players will be able to fight him. When Ghost of Lincoln dies, he drops Lincoln's Ghost's Top Hat, which the players can wear.
Lore
On April 27th, 1865, after Abraham Lincoln was assassinated, the slain President's train was on its funeral tour across the nation when it disappeared into thin air. The train failed to reach its destination in San Antonio, Texas and its believed to have derailed somewhere in the American desert. Abraham Lincoln's remains are still in his coffin waiting to be opened. It’s likely that outlaws derailed the train, causing many casualties like the conductors, and over the 34 years sand has covered up the bodies or they decomposed, explaining why the train is also weathered.
Strategy
It is not advised to use Shotguns while dealing with Lincoln like what Werewolves are to be dealt with, because however the identical stat, Lincoln is taller and therefore will be much harder to headshot with a Shotgun, especially at close range. Burning the Hat in a Fortified Town will ensure an instant victory. However, the player must still keep a distance and preferably help the Soldiers because sometimes the Ghost of Lincoln can overpower the Soldiers. Using two different Ranged Weapons is a great help to defeat this boss. Just stand atop the Train car and empty out the bullets of one gun on him, then switch to the second and again headshot him until he dies. The second weapon is recommended to be a pistol, as they reload quickly with a higher shooting rate, mowing down Lincoln faster as he approaches closer. A Crucifix can instanly kill the Ghost of Lincoln. Killing the Ghost of Lincoln near the Train can result in his corpse accidentally being burnt in the firebox, leading to the player losing 100, therefore, he should preferably be killed afar from the Train or killed very quicky. The Ghost can easily be killed with a Ranged Weapon, but if it climbs onto the Train roof, players can climb onto the Train's firebox to hit it using Melee Weapons. The friendly Ghost of Lincoln can attract great amounts of enemies to him. As such, the player can use a Ranged Weapon to start shooting down the enemies, albeit be careful of hitting Lincoln. An alternative is to use a crowd control weapon like the Holy Water.
Patch history
Ghost of Lincoln has the same body as the following 4: Werewolf, Nikola Tesla, Easter Bunny, and Goliath, the latter being the one with which it shares the most traits. This is confirmed because when he was first added, his corpse would be signed as Goliath, due to Lincoln's Ghost actually being a reskin of the Goliath (with an altered code and model). It was later fixed in the 6/12/2025 update, where the corpse of Lincoln's Ghost would be correctly signed and display the correct name. Lincoln's Ghost is considered a Werewolf in the game files, likely due to developers reusing assets. Lincoln's Ghost being equipped with an axe may be a reference to the novel "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter". The axe Lincoln wields has the same model as a removed weapon, which is the Axe. It would be completely impossible to spawn Lincoln's Ghost in any way when playing Horsing Around gamemode, because there are 2 ways of spawning him, both requires a Train, but there are none in that gamemode. However, this gamemode was removed after the update. He is named after the famous 16th American president of the same name, serving from 1861 until his assassination in 1865. He is renowned for his role in the American Civil War. It is possible for Lincoln’s Ghost to be stuck in a building upon being spawned, making it even more easy to kill him. If fighting fast or numerous entities such as Runner Zombies, he can get stuck due to his AI getting confused and end up spinning circles standing on top of these entities. Lincoln's Ghost has a similar counterpart, which is the Alligator.
