Using it to summon a hostile Lincoln's Ghost. Lincoln's Top Hat is an equippable item in Dead Rails.
Lincoln's Top Hat is a special item that can only be found in Lincoln's Train. Lincoln's Top Hat is seemingly and purely a cosmetic item. But if a player puts the top hat into the furnace, a hostle Lincoln's Ghost will appear and try to attack the player. If they manage to survive and kill him, he will drop a special Top Hat called Lincoln's Ghost's Top Hat, which when worn, will spawn 3 Zombie Soldiers who will attack any nearby enemies, similar to Eggslinger. It looks like a blackish, leather top hat, most likely worn by U.S. President Abraham Lincoln.

Strategies
Since you can burn the hat anywhere, consider burning it in a Fortified Town to deal with Lincoln quickly and easily. It is not recommended to sell the hat, since the return ($25) isn't as much as burning the hat and sell both Lincoln's Ghost and Lincoln's Ghost's Top Hat after burnt ($140), since you would probably burn it and sell it in a Fortified Town already. However, selling the hat is recommended for Pony Express challenge or Horsing Around gamemode, as it can't be burned without the Train's Furnace. And it does not take Sack space (unless players are wearing Helmet or Mining Helmet) compared to other Valuables. Since burning the Hat summons Lightning. It is recommended to place a Lightning Rod and an Electrocutioner next to it to get a free reload without any usage of Holy Water (more wasteful), Crucifix, Strange Mask, Excalibur (requires Entities), Lightning Night or Famine Horse (not reliable). DO NOT burn the hat in the Christmas Train present furnace. As it will not summon the Lincoln's Ghost, and therefore, you won't be able to get Lincoln's Ghost's Top Hat.
Trivia
This hat can be used as a cosmetic for players, albeit not recommended. It seems similar to the Musician and Tycoon’s hat, possibly being another recolor of the same hat. This is the only Fuel item that does another impact instead of just filling the meter and fueling the Train. Its riddle "Liberty burns brighter than fire", along with the "Fuel" tag might suggest that players can burn it and something might happens, which is Lincoln's Ghost spawning and hunting the player.
