Acid Barrel

WeaponsDead Rails

Overview[1]

+Acid; Train's firebox; Nearby explosion; Buildings; 2 Metal; 1 Component The Acid Barrel is an explosive item in Dead Rails.

The Acid Barrel has a similar detonation mechanism with the Gunpowder Barrel, where it must be lit and have a relatively long fuse expire to detonate. It can also be immediately detonated if triggered by other explosives, including the Acid Mine. Upon detonation, it creates a large puddle of acid which applies heavy damage over time to any players or entities that come in contact with it. The acid can also be picked up with a Glass Bottle, but does not deal any explosive damage. It can occasionally be found in Abandoned Buildings. The Corrosionieer class also spawns with one.

Strategies

The Acid Barrel should be treated as an Acid Mine with a more difficult detonation mechanism. The Acid Barrel can be useful for blocking doorways to prevent entities from entering. Players can light the Acid Barrel with a Torch or the Train's furnace and collect the acid in a Bottle.

Patch history

The Acid Barrel is the heaviest Item in the game. The Acid Barrel is effectively an acid version of the Gunpowder Barrel. Despite not doing any explosive damage itself, the Acid Barrel has a certain radius that can instantly detonate other nearby explosives. It can also be detonated by other explosions, including the one from the Acid Mine (despite it not actually dealing any explosive damage).
