Strategy
Despite its longer charging time, the Spear still possesses an above average DPS for a melee weapon.
The increased range allows players to attack enemies at a safer distance.
It also allows them to clear smaller buildings more safely, due to the increased range allowing more enemies to be hit through walls.
Players can also reach enemies while standing on the edge of a roof of a House.
The Spear is able to kill Vampires in just 2 hits thanks to its enhanced damage.
Most other enemies take 2 hits as well, but they do not have to be fully charged.
Pros & cons
• Higher damage than standard melee weapons. • Higher range than standard melee weapons.
Patch history
Unlike other melee weapons, it does not seem to occasionally glitch out and become unusable.
The Spear used to whack/chop enemies rather than stabbing them. This was fixed in an animation update that came with the Wonder Weapons update, likely to match the Longinus Spear. It also has new animations when equipped or used, and applies a shaking effect to the camera as well.
It has a lot of similarities with the Spear of Longinus, which is likely a result from developers reusing code and other data.
They are held in a manner more similar to firearms (with 2 hands and facing the player's direction), rather than how other inventory items are held (with 1 hand and vertically).
