Enchantments
The best enchantments for the rod are: For C$ C$: Abyssal or preferably Quantum. Note that Quantum is an exalted enchant, and will require Exalted Relics. Alternatives: For XP: Insight or preferably Clever. To catch fish more easily and quickly: Immortal, Piercing, or Blessed Song. Note that Immortal is an exalted enchant, and will require Exalted Relics. Note that Piercing is an exalted enchant, and will require Exalted Relics. Note that the Blessed Song enchantment requires a Song of the Deep relic, obtained from Captain Ahab for a Moby. Note that Flashline isn't recommended for Challenger's Rod, however, if you do want to use it, the rod will receive 110% progress speed when the 90%+ progress speed is active, but will only receive 30% progress speed when the 10%+ progress speed is active.

What does this mean?
Fisch's in-game currency. A fish's value is its documented average sell price in C$ — what it sells for at its average weight. A rod's value is its documented shop cost. Both are in-game facts from the community wiki, not a trading consensus. Values are not comparable across games.

Patch history
The Challenger's Rod is very similar to the Tempest Rod, with a passive that increases progress speed when reeling and similar yet higher stats, making it a better version of the Tempest Rod.
