Long Rod

UncommonRodsFisch3K C$

Overview[1]

The Long Rod is a Stage Fishing Rod obtained in Moosewood for 3,000 C$.

The Long Rod is a fishing rod found beside a tent overlooking a cliff, roughly behind the Moosewood Merchant's house. Despite holding sub-par stats even for a beginner rod, (typically made redundant by the Carbon Rod in both stats and cost) it uniquely stands out for having an extremely long line that can cast from the top of tall places such as the highest ledge in Vertigo. This admittedly impractical utility finds its use in placing Catch Flags in places that would be otherwise impossible for even end-game rods.

Notes

Just like any other early-game rod, it is not recommended to spend money to Enchant the Long Rod due to its obsolescence as the player progresses in the game. But you can use Long for the longest rod in the game absolutely.

What does this mean?

Fisch's in-game currency. A fish's value is its documented average sell price in C$ — what it sells for at its average weight. A rod's value is its documented shop cost. Both are in-game facts from the community wiki, not a trading consensus. Values are not comparable across games.

Patch history

This rod and the Resourceful Rod are the only rod with a negative amount of control. Between this rod and the Resourceful Rod, it has the lowest amount of control. This rod has the longest cast distance out of all rods, at least 4x the length than the Arctic Rod and can cast from the topmost ledge of Vertigo. The following are locations that you wouldn't typically be able to fish at but can due to the Long Rod's LONG cast length: The elevator in Statue of Sovereignty The topmost ledge in Vertigo. Harvester Spike's peak. Stats changed in Update 1.29.0.
