EasyDisastersNatural Disaster Survival

Overview[1]

Fire is one of the 13 disasters in Natural Disaster Survival. During a fire, blocks start burning and flames spread, destroying buildings and damaging players' health. Fires will result in buildings collapsing, making it near impossible to escape on high buildings. Fires start off as red, orange, and yellow, dealing heavy amounts of damage to players and setting them on fire. After a bit however, the fire plates turn black, and are safe to touch again. At the start of a fire, a random block will catch on fire and begin spreading to other plates. The exact plate a fire will spawn on varies, although it is well documented.

Characteristics

During a fire, blocks ignite and flames spread, leading to the destruction of buildings and damage to players’ health. Fires, depending on their spawn point, rapidly spread, engulfing entire buildings and structures in flames and causing them to collapse. The spawn points of fires vary depending on the map. For specific spawn locations, refer to the table in the Spawn Locations Section. Upon obliterating buildings, fires start spreading to various plates. These fires are less visible, with burnt plates identifiable by their color and the flames emitting from them. Plates will be yellow, orange, or red; which deal 40 damage to players who step or touch them. The black plates are safe to touch. Fires cause structures to collapse and tiles can be flung at high speeds, potentially killing players instantly. Fires spread in all directions until they reach floor plates. At this point, the fire is unable to reach the player, providing a safe zone from the primary effect. The primary effects of a fire include the decimation of buildings, resulting in building parts, plates collapsing and dealing fall damage to players on them, 40 DPS (damage per second), and flinging plates. Secondary effects include burnt tiles that deal less damage than the fire itself and explosions, though these are glitches rather than in-game qualities. When a player starts on a burning tiles for too long, they would catch on fire. It would rapidly damage the player while burning away layered clothing, accessories, and hair. This effect does not go away until the player dies.

Guide

This disaster has no warning signs (aka Sunny Weather). There are a total of 6 disasters with no warning signs. It is best to survive by staying on the grass where the fire cannot be spread. If you're in a building, try to exit it and move onto the grass. Avoid going near burning tiles and instead move onto a baseplate that is far away from collapsible structures. If you're vulnerable to the fire, try navigating through the burning tiles onto the grass or burnt platforms. Using a balloon can help avoid the fire, while eating an apple can help regenerate health if you sustain damage. If in a building, near the fire-starter, or even in an inflamed structure, players should aim to go to the baseplates where they will be safe from the flames. Players should keep an eye out for flinging or falling tiles, and stay far away from burning tiles. On certain maps, the fire starter can be pushed out of the map and into the water, eliminating the threat. Maps where you can do this are Party Palace, where you can push the popcorn machine off the island; Raving Raceway, where you can drive the yellow go-kart out of the map; Fort Indestructible, where you can drive the middle tank into the water; Furious Station, where the microwave can be pushed out of the convenience store and onto the grass or into the water; and Heights School, where the green can can be pushed down the left stairs and out of the back door. Be careful if you attempt to push the popcorn machine, because it can glitch and fling you. It could be hard to drive the yellow go-kart out of the map.

Trivia

In Safety Second, the chance of death used to be incredibly low because the crate that started the fire could not spread the fire (unless a vehicle was parked between the crate and the scaffolding), meaning that only the crate would burn and nothing else could. This was later fixed when a block was added between the crate and the scaffolding so the fire would spread. If you survive a Fire in Sunny Ranch for the first time, you will earn the "Barn Fire" badge. If Fire is paired with Flash Flood or Tsunami in Multi Disaster, the water will not put out the fire, meaning that the fire can still burn underwater. This defies the laws of physics. This is the same case with water that generates in maps, such as the pool in Manic Mansion, or the fountains in Arch Park or Modest Headquarters. In Sunny Ranch, the fire always starts from a lantern in the barn. This is a reference to the legend, now proven false, that the 1871 Great Chicago Fire was started from a lantern in a barn. If you lose your legs, you can walk on burning tiles without taking damage. But if you touch the fire from the side or the top, you can take damage. Even some avatars can prevent this damage. Emotes from the marketplace that allow you to levitate above the ground will also prevent you from taking damage if you stand on fire. This is the only disaster to not have any sound effects. There was a bug before where if the player gets the fire effect right before beating the round. The fire effect will remain on them except it no longer deals damage. This effect will last until the player dies.
