Description

The War Machine Sentry, internally referred to as Sentry4, is the fourth and last sentry that is spawned by the Engineer. It spawns when the Engineer is at Level 6. It does not spawn on the path and instead on a ground spot in the Engineer's sentry placement range. It takes about 1.75 second to build the War Machine Sentry. Before the War Machine Sentry starts firing, it needs to rev-up its miniguns. The rev-up time is 1.5 seconds. It has a rocket launcher, which fires two rockets in a quick burst. The War Machine Sentry also has a shield. This shield prevents the War Machine Sentry from being damaged by any enemy's ability. This shield is only active when the Engineer itself is not stunned. There is a limit of four units per Engineer when it is at Level 6, limiting the amount of War Machine Sentries it can spawn. In PVP mode, this is reduced to three units per Engineer.

Appearance

The War Machine Sentry is a quadpod device constructed out of metal, colored black and white. It is a sentry that uses a mounted minigun to attack enemies, which spins when attacking enemies. It has a red laser and two rocket launchers which fire missiles mounted on top. It also has a red shield, which disappears when the Engineer that spawned the War Machine Sentry is stunned. There is also a 5% chance that the War Machine Sentry will spawn with a cosmetic teddy bear on it.

Strategy

The War Machine Sentry can do well against high health enemies that appear later on, such as the Fallen Titan or Summoner Boss. The War Machine Sentry has Hidden detection, making it very useful against high health hidden enemies like the Shadow Boss and Soul Boss. The War Machine Sentry is not affected by any buff or debuff. Due to the War Machine Sentry's shield, it is very effective against enemies that have abilities that damage units, as their shield makes them invulnerable to damage. Do note that if the Engineer is stunned, the War Machine Sentry will lose its shield, making it vulnerable due to its very low health. For example, if the Molten Warlord uses its Hammer Slam attack, and a War Machine Sentry is caught in the attack, it will be destroyed instantly. The Medic can be very useful, as its shield can protect the Engineer from stuns, stopping the War Machine Sentry's shield from being destroyed. The War Machine Sentry can damage Lead enemies, as both its missiles deal explosion damage.

Patch history

The War Machine Sentry's name might be a reference to the exclusive tower, the War Machine, which is given to anyone who is an moderator or a higher rank based on the game's group. Additionally, the former and the latter both have miniguns and rocket launchers. There is a 5% chance that the War Machine Sentry will spawn with a cosmetic teddy bear on it. The shooting sound will also change. The teddy bear is the gear from the Roblox catalog. This is a reference to the now removed Sentry tower. Before the MEGA Update, there was a 30% chance that the Sentry would have a teddy bear on it when upgraded to Level 5. This, at one point, allowed the Sentry to detect hidden enemies. This is, however, not the case for the War Machine Sentry. The War Machine Sentry's shield is based on Team Fortress 2's Wrangler shield. The War Machine Sentry was sent out on the path by the devs during the admin abuse part of the Halloween 2025 Live Events. This allowed for a rare situation to happen where the War Machine Sentry can, actually, slide across the path at a speed of 1.5 like a regular unit.
