Description

Nil Zone was the map representation of Lord Exo's prison inside the God Cube. It was the map for the Halloween 2025 Live Events. Like other event maps, this map had a specialized wave structure with special enemies. Players started with a varying amount of cash, based on the difficulty chosen. It had no unique rewards other than the Banned Crate, which was only given out once per triumph. You only got cash if an enemy was killed, or in some cases, damaged by a specific amount of health. Additionally, the amount gained is a set amount of cash, which is not always equal to the enemy's health. Enemies split their cash between players, regardless of how much damage the player dealt to it. If, in a duo, one player did all the damage to an enemy, both players would receive 50% of the cash the enemy would normally give in solo. This means that in solo, you received 100% of the cash when an enemy is killed, or it was damaged enough. With each additional player, this is reduced to 50% in duo, 33% in trio and 25% in quad. If it is a decimal number, it got rounded up or down depending on the decimal value. If it was at least 0.5, it gets rounded up. If it was less than 0.5, it got rounded down.

Design & Path

Nil Zone was located on a floating island in the middle of nowhere. The island itself was made out of Roblox studs and only contained a giant throne, a ban hammer, a few cliffs and a super computer. The map was surrounded by floating black bricks covered in purple binary and translucent humanoids. Lord Exo could also be seen standing on the throne and looking around the map. Occasionally, Lord Exo would pull out a keyboard to inject code into the game. A pop-up window would appear above showing what the effect of the injected code is. The map started and ended at black rectangular portal. The map takes a short straight path which leads into two u-turns, ending with another short straight path that leads to the exit.

Preset Loadouts

Each player was allowed to pick from one of three preset loadouts. Alongside these preset options, players could opt to use their current loadout as the first choice. However, if one's loadout contained no towers, this option would be unavailable.

Rewards

The game calculated how many Coins Coins and you receive based on how many waves you survived and if you won a match. During periods of 100% more (Friday – Sunday), any earned is multiplied by 2x through the XP Boost modifier. The VIP gamepass also multiplied any earned by 1.25x through the VIP Boost modifier. These two boosts were additive. Rewards are calculated as: There was also a badge which could be obtained when playing this map

Wave Structure

In Nil Zone, the formula for calculating the wave bonus depends on the wave. Between waves 1 and 5, it was: 500 + ([Waves Completed - 1] × 120)^1.2 For Wave 6, between Wave 8 and 11 and Between 14 and 15, it was calculated as: 500 + ([Waves Completed - 1] × 125)^1.225 Other waves have set values instead of equations. Wave 7 gives 7,500, Wave 12 gives 25,000 and Wave 13 gives 30,000. Depending on player count, the wave bonus is reduced using multipliers. These multipliers are: The wave clear bonus appears when every enemy from that wave was killed and no damage was dealt to the base health. It is 20% of the wave bonus. The waves could not be skipped. The waves in Nil Zone follow these timings: Bolded names indicate an enemy type's debut. First Wave Structure ---- Second Wave Structure

Strategy

Nil Zone spawns in high numbers of enemies on the path, making AOE towers like the Toxic Gunner, Mortar, Archer and Pyromancer very useful here. Do note that the map contains multiple enemies with Splash Damage Immunity, meaning that by later waves towers like the Mortar will become far less viable. This map contains both Flying and Hidden enemies, on some waves enemies are both. Because of this, towers that can detect both of these enemies are needed here, like the Golden Soldier, Archer, Gatling Gun or Pursuit. Towers like the Ace Pilot can be used to give other towers that have flying detection hidden detection while the Firework Technician can be used to give towers that have neither detections both. Multiple fast enemies like the Null Beast appear in this map, making stalling towers like the Freezer, Electroshocker, Jester, or Archer helpful at killing them.

Trivia

Nil Zone is very similar in name to a Roblox engine bug commonly referred to as nullzone, where an object is too far to properly render. Nullzone is a region that is often defined at 1,000,000 or more studs away from the origin in a given Roblox place. Objects will gradually lose detail and render with decreasing numbers of triangles, giving them a warped look. As part of the Halloween 2025 Live Events, the developers would use their powers to admin abuse in the game globally, this could have negative effects like giving every enemy Tank or summoning in friendly units. While this was seen in all matches, in the Nil Zone, any upcoming admin abuse would be displayed through Lord Exo injecting code into the game. While not playable until the 4th of October 2025, the Nil Zone made multiple appearances in the game prior to its proper addition. More notable examples of this include: Part of the Lunar Overture Event lobby took place in the Nil Zone. The Narrator would have been sent to the Nil Zone by Lord Exo in the non-canon The Great Finale cutscenes. The Classic Event trailer showed Lord Exo in the Nil Zone looking at 1x1x1x1's portal. In Failed Gateway, the portal that acted as the exit lead to the Nil Zone, though this could only be seen at higher graphic levels. The large super computer in the map uses the same model as the super computer that would appear in both the Hexscape Event maps and the lobby crate area, while also bearing resemblance to the ones present in the intermission lobbies.
