Description

The Null Guardian was a major boss that appeared in Banlands. Served as its final boss for the second night of the Null & Void Event. It had far higher health than the Null Commander and only walked slightly slower than it. It also had the Stun Immunity. The Null Guardian had four abilities. The first ability, Cosmic Spear, made it rain down comets on towers and units. This targeted up to 10 towers and units, stunning any hit for 2 second or dealing 1,500 damage to it. The second ability, Null Bubble, had it form a bubble of void around a tower. This applied a 25% Range Debuff to any tower inside of it. The third ability, Summon Clones, had it summoned three Null Guardian Clones. The fourth ability, Lane Switch, had it teleport to the adjacent path. The last ability, Null Aura, which happened when it reaches half of its health. This made it slam the ground, changing its animations and creating an aura with a radius of 12. This aura will apply a 15% Firerate Buff to any tower with it, as long as the tower is in the visible circle. This can stack with other Firerate Buffs.

Logbook Description

"The Null Guardian has existed within the Nil Zone since before the Old World, appointed to this role by the Rift Walker himself. He patrols endlessly, destroying any who enter the "Place Between Realms". The Guardian is connected to the chaotic energy of the Nil Zone, allowing him to perceive and experience the realm's history within it."

Appearance

The Null Guardian is a heavily armored entity with black skin and purple eyes. Its armor consists of a chestplate, helmet, shoulder-pads leggings and arm armor, with only certain parts of its body like its face being exposed. On its hands, it has a few fingers with electricity coming out of them. In the middle of its torso, it has a ball of dark energy that has purple lightning around it.

Event Strategy

As this enemy only appears through Sandbox mode, no strategy section is made for its current version. Instead, a strategy section for the one that appeared without Sandbox mode in Banlands is listed instead. The Null Guardian can be taken down quite effectively by towers like the Golden Minigunner, Accelerator, Ranger or Pursuit. Support towers like the Commander and DJ Booth can be helpful at boosting the statistics of your towers. The Null Guardian summons in three Null Guardian Clones which have a high amount of health. While they are clones, they do not keep the Null Guardian's Boss attribute. This means they are more prone to various effects in the game. This makes the Hacker useful here, as it can convert these clones into friendly clones. The Null Guardian is one of the faster boss enemies in the game, making stalling towers useful against it, though as it is a Boss most forms of stalling will not work on it. Freezing towers can be useful here as while Boss enemies are immune to the freeze, they only gain a partial immunity to its chillness. Similarly, stunning towers like the Electroshocker are useful, as they still get slowed down. There are a few curses which can be taken to help take down the Null Guardian. While Temperance does apply Mutation, this will have no effect on the Null Guardian as it only spawns once. This means the Stun Immunity given to towers can be very helpful here. If taken on Wave 25, the Mutation modifier will do nothing as there is no wave past Wave 25, making it only boost rewards by 20%.
