Description

Titus, also referred to as Maximus in cutscenes, was the final boss of Failed Gateway, the first night of the Hexscape Event. It had a high amount of health and a fairly fast speed when compared to other bosses. It had two abilities. The first was Void Stream, where Titus would windup and attack several towers in proximity. This would apply a 60% Firerate Debuff (150% increase) to them and regenerate its own health by 15 for each tower attacked at rapid speed. Its second ability, Dark Decoy, made it summon five Neuro Runners and five Bloated Brain Bounds, all with a 0.2 second delay between each spawn. Additionally, Titus itself would temporarily gain the Aggro and Tank attributes, while also gaining a permanent 5% defense increase.

Appearance

Titus had tan skin, with a part of its face being purple. Its right arm was replaced with a mechanical arm, which had three claws and a laser blaster in it. It had blond hair. It wore a khaki shirt and blue pants, alongside brown shoes. On its left arm, it had a metal shoulder-pad, multiple brown bandages, brown glove and black brass knuckles with spikes. It also wore a purple bandanna. On its torso, it had a large brown belt connected to a brown armor piece, which protected part of its mechanical arm that was connected to the torso. It had a brown belt with pouches and a grey plate with "4OBIA" written on it. It also had grey knee-pads.

Strategy

Due to the low amount of waves to prepare, it is recommended to use more cost effective towers against Titus, such as the Golden Soldier, Militant or Engineer. In Easy mode, Titus has a lot less health, so it should not be a big issue. The DPS options that the preset loadouts contain should take care of it easily. You may bring support towers such as the DJ Booth and Commander to help boost your towers. Military Base is also a good option against Titus, due to the high health units dealing lots of collision damage. The high health units are also a great counter for Dark Decoy, as the units will buffer the enemies spawned in, helping reduce the effectiveness of the Aggro modifier. It is recommended to place a few towers as distraction so that Titus uses Void Stream on them instead of your DPS towers.

Update History

23 October 2024 - v1.37.0 Titus added. Poison and electric defense dropping towers cannot drop its defense. Titus receives damage at rapid speed from unit collision, if the damage dealt is to its healed health. 6 November 2024 - v1.40.0 Titus can no longer have its defense decreased. Poison and electric defense dropping towers now can drop its defense if it is not a Boss enemy, though the Jester still cannot drop it. 20 November 2024 - v1.42.0 Titus removed.

Trivia

Titus is the name of a epistle in the New Testament, as well as the name of a Roman Emperor. Titus was one of the most common names in Ancient Rome. Titus was referred to as Maximus in Failed Gateway's beginning cutscene. As for some of the audio files, it is referred to as Titus Maximus, it is highly likely it is either its last name or some form of a secondary title. The belt Titus wears has the nameplate "4OBIA", which is a wordplay on the word "phobia". The voice actor of Titus is Enthrallist, who also works as a composer for Tower Defense Simulator. Titus had a cash/health ratio of 5 to 1 in Hard difficulty and 13.33 to 1 in Easy, the highest in the game. For context, Titus had 40,000 health in Hard and 15,000 in Easy and gave 200,000 total.
