Strategy
It excels at single target DPS, even with torso/limb shots, good for fighting Outlaws.
This gun can still be used in crowds with its pierce, though the reload time is something to take into account.
It's recommended to sell the Elephant Rifle once the player obtains better weapon, as the damage is not worth it due to the mediocre reload time, which is 3.6s, and the magazine capacity, which is 2. The Elephant Rifle is largely outclassed by the Bolt-Action Rifle in terms of headshot damage, reload time, magazine capacity, and obtainability.
Pros & cons
Incredible power, its significant headshot damage allows you to kill multiple enemies per shot through the bullet penetration mechanic.
Can often be found in Towns, Outlaw Camps, and Outlaw's Town.
Can be sold for a very high price of.
Patch history
The Elephant Rifle can pierce through armor, which can be useful in taking down Ironclad Zombies and Covenants.
The Elephant Rifle, Blunderbuss, Springfield Rifle and Flintlock Pistol reload times have been reduced after the October Bugfix update.
The Elephant Rifle is based on Elephant Guns in real life, which, as their names suggest, are used for hunting elephants and other big animals.
Even though elephants are not present in Dead Rails nor canon, this gun is pretty effective against Werewolves if you are a good distance due to the limited ammo capacity and slow reload time.
