Nuclear Monster

EnemiesTower Defense Simulator

Overview

The Nuclear Monster is the final boss of Polluted Wasteland II. It has an extremely high amount of health—exceeding the health of every non-event enemy in-game—but has a very slow speed. It is also immune to being frozen by freezing towers, slowed down by the Toxic Gunner, knocked back, damaged through the Nuke fallout, confused and slowed down by the DJ Booth. Additionally, it can only be slowed down by the Electroshocker and Warden instead of stunned.

Description

The Nuclear Monster is the final boss of Polluted Wasteland II. It has an extremely high amount of health—exceeding the health of every non-event enemy in-game—but has a very slow speed. It is also immune to being frozen by freezing towers, slowed down by the Toxic Gunner, knocked back, damaged through the Nuke fallout, confused and slowed down by the DJ Booth. Additionally, it can only be slowed down by the Electroshocker and Warden instead of stunned. The Nuclear Monster replaces the Fallen King in the Oops! All slimes! challenge. The Nuclear Monster has six abilities: The first ability, Nuclear Summon, summons multiple random enemies. The modern version is not guaranteed to summon anything, while legacy always summons something. This ability for the modern version summons Splitters, Necromancers, Giant Skeletons, Mutagenic Blights and Rushers. legacy version can spawn the Toxic, Super Toxic, Slime, Circuit, Abomination, Amalgamation, Rusher, Cursed Skeleton, Shadow Boss, Necromancer and Super Mutant. It can only spawn one Abomination, and up to three Amalgamations and Rushers when using the ability, though it cannot summon an Abomination when near the exit. The second ability is Boxing Knockout, where the Nuclear Monster will charge up its right hand and then punch the ground with it, creating a large shockwave that stuns any tower hit by it and deals 500 damage to units.

Appearance

The Nuclear Monster is a robotic monster with a bull-shaped mask, green devil horns, green skin and a red head. It has mechanical hands as well as a mechanical bull mask with glowing green horns and eyes. Its torso is cut open, there being a grey robotic heart with a green glowing core, which can be used to fire green beams. It also has grey shoulder-pads, an energy pack on its back and numerous green humanoids sticking out of its body. The Nuclear Monster has a death animation, where it will convulse and emit sparks, before all of its green lights turn a dark grey as it falls to its knees and then forward.

Strategy

Multiple high DPS towers, such as the Engineer, Accelerator, Pursuit, Golden Minigunner and Turret are needed to eliminate the Nuclear Monster. The Pursuit is immune to both stuns and debuffs, making it unaffected by all of the Nuclear Monster's abilities. The Ranger is immune to stuns, making it very useful against the Nuclear Monster. As the Nuclear Monster will apply the Scared Debuff quite often, the Turret can be effective here because of its debuff immunity, though it is not stun immune. The Commander and Mercenary Base are highly recommended to boost the firerate and damage of your towers. The DJ Booth is extremely useful at increasing your tower's range due to how big the map is, keeping the Nuclear Monster in range for longer and partially mitigating the Blindly Shooting ability. It cannot slow down the Nuclear Monster as it is a boss enemy. The Medic is extremely useful at shield towers from the stuns caused by the Nuclear Monster. Do note that the Medic cannot shield towers from the Scared Debuff applied by it. Freezing towers like Freezer, Frost Blaster and Sledger can only slow down the Nuclear Monster as it is immune to freeze. The Toxic Gunner cannot slow down the Nuclear Monster as it is immune to its slowing effect. The Electroshocker and Warden can slow down the Nuclear Monster instead of completely stopping it, though the Warden can only slow it down for a shorter amount of time due to its large size. Multiple Electroshockers boosted by the Commander can be somewhat effective at slowing down the Nuclear Monster and the enemies it summons.

Trivia

The Nuclear Monster has the second most base health out of any other enemy in the entire game, following the Rift Walker. However, the Nuclear Monster does have the most base health in the game if excluding event enemies. The Nuclear Monster's theme is a remix of the Nuclear Fallen King's theme. The design of the Nuclear Monster likely takes inspiration from the Icon Of Sin from Doom.
